I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Financial Management over a decade ago, yet I’ve never had the opportunity to work in that field. To be honest, much of what I learned has faded from memory.

Recently, I’ve been contemplating a shift back into the realm of Accounting, with the ambition of ultimately moving into internal auditing. From my research, internal auditing appears to be a growing field in New Zealand, and it could also serve as a potential pathway to residency—a long-held dream of mine.

As an EU citizen residing in Denmark, my current situation feels daunting. Without any recent professional experience or savings, I feel like I’m essentially starting from scratch. This leads me to my central question:

Should I invest my time and resources into a new bachelor’s degree in Accounting?
Alternatively, might there be more practical options available, such as diplomas or certifications, that could help me re-enter the workforce and eventually facilitate my move to New Zealand?
