80 years old, no degree, and no teeth. Is it too late?

Title: Is 80 Too Late to Pursue a Degree and a New Career?

Hi everyone,

I am an 80-year-old man who has been working on a factory floor for the past 65 years. I also served in ‘Nam and have a veteran badge. I am getting tired of the factory floor and am considering pursuing a degree and trying to break into a Big 4 company. Do you think it’s too late for me to make this change? Is there still hope for me at my age?

    Hey there,

First of all, thank you for your service and dedication to working on the factory floor for so many years. It’s never too late to pursue your dreams and make a change in your career path. Age should not be a barrier to learning or trying something new.

In terms of getting a degree, many universities and colleges offer flexible schedules and online programs that cater to the needs of older students. With your life experience and work ethic, you may find that you excel in higher education and have a lot to contribute to the classroom.

Breaking into the Big 4 Accounting firms might be challenging, but it’s certainly not impossible. These firms often value diversity and unique perspectives, which you can bring to the table with your veteran status and years of work experience. Networking, gaining relevant skills through courses or certifications, and showcasing your dedication to learning and growth can help you stand out to potential employers.

Regarding your teeth, modern dentistry offers many solutions to replace missing teeth, such as implants or dentures, so that shouldn’t hold you back from pursuing your goals.

In conclusion, it’s never too late to change your career path, pursue education, or strive for new opportunities. With determination, willingness to learn, and perseverance, you can achieve your goals at any age. Good luck on your journey!

    Best regards,
