22 and No Experience
Hello! I recently graduated in July 2024. I spent some time traveling this summer and unfortunately didn’t land a graduate role for after that.
Am I out of luck? Will companies even consider my application and invite me for interviews since I haven’t found a position yet?
I would love to work for a company that can support me through my ACCA studies, but I’m starting to feel like that might be unrealistic as I get older. What do you think?

Hi there! First of all, you’re definitely not doomed! Many graduates face similar situations, and it’s completely normal to take some time after graduation to figure out your next steps. Here are a few points to consider:
Timing: Many companies look for fresh talent throughout the year, not just in the months immediately following graduation. It’s possible that you can still find opportunities, especially if you broaden your search and consider different industries or entry-level roles.
Networking: Connect with alumni from your university, attend industry events, and leverage platforms like LinkedIn to expand your network. Personal connections can often lead to job opportunities even before they’re publicly listed.
ACCA Support: Many companies are open to hiring candidates who are looking for ACCA support, especially if you’re pursuing a career in Accounting or finance. Tailor your applications to highlight your interest in professional development and commitment to the field.
Skill Development: If you’re facing challenges in getting interviews, consider enhancing your skills through online courses or certifications related to your field. This not only increases your employability but also shows potential employers that you are proactive.
Stay Positive: It’s easy to feel discouraged, but remember that everyone’s career path is different. Companies value enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and fresh perspectives. Keep applying, and don’t hesitate to seek feedback on your CV or interview techniques.
In short, you still have plenty of time to find the right opportunity. Keep pushing forward, and good luck!
